Awakening Compassion, Inspiring Change.

Animal cruelty is in direct conflict with Catholic values of mercy, justice, and respect for creation. Through outreach, we help caring people make the connection between our deepest values and the reality of animals’ experiences today.

We bring the truth about needless animal suffering to light and provide practical ways for people to respond and make a difference.

Caring for Creation: Heeding Laudato Si’s Call to Respect Animals

Since Pope Francis’s Laudato Si’ was published in 2015, more Catholics have heeded the call to care for our common home. We know that God gave us this beautiful world to steward and protect. We know that we are all connected, that what happens to one ultimately impacts us all.

Yet, most compassionate people don't realize two essential truths:

  1. The extent of unimaginable, needless animal suffering

  2. Our personal ability to stop it

We help to close this gap.

Accelerating Changes for Animals by Closing the Gap

The facts reveal a profound moral and spiritual disconnect in society:

We Know:

Most people love animals. 94% of people oppose cruelty and abuse to farmed animals.

Dogs, pigs, and cows are all highly intelligent, social mammals capable of recognizing faces and complex problem-solving.

Science confirms that industrial animal agriculture is a major contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions and environmental degradation.

In the U.S., vegan and vegetarian options are abundant, and studies have shown the profound health and environmental benefits of following a plant-based diet.

And Yet:

Through purchases, compassionate people unwittingly yet directly fund systems that cause immense suffering to farmed animals.

Many animals, who are just like our dogs in so many ways, are subjected to routine, cruel practices on factory farms, from live shackling and mutilations to extreme, prolonged confinement.

Less than 1% of U.S. agricultural subsidies go toward producing fresh vegetables and fruits; the vast majority funds corn and soy used as animal feed.
